Have you ever considered where you will spend eternity?
I suppose each person considers that question at one time or another in their life. However, few really know for sure where that will be. Most people hope for the best, but go through life not knowing. It is possible to know for sure. There are a few things that God tells us that we must realize before we can know.
You MUST:
1st - Realize that you are a sinner.
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" There is not one person who is not a sinner according to the Bible. We all fail to measure up to God's standard of perfection. As hard as we may try (go to church, read the Bible, pray, live good, etc...) we will at some point sin and prove God's Word true. We are hopelessly sinners and fall short of god's mark of perfection.
2nd - Realize that there is a price to pay for your sins.
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death;" God is Holy (perfect) and hates sin, so He cannot allow sin to go unpunished. Sin brings death and eternal separation from God in the Lake of Fire. It is not God's desire that anyone go to Hell, but sin must be paid for. Romans 6:23 continues by saying, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." This fact brings us to the 3rd thing one must realize.
3rd - Realize that Jesus paid the price for your sin on the cross
Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." God loves you so much that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross. Jesus was sinless and did nothing to deserve death, but He gave His life in your place as payment for your sin. God doesn't want you to spend one minute in Hell, so He provided and extends to you the "GIFT of eternal life." This gift, like others, cannot be purchased or earned, it can only be received.
4th - By faith receive Christ as your personal Savior.
Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Understanding that you are a sinner and that Christ paid the price for your sin, would you place your trust in Jesus today? If you believe Jesus Christ died, was buried and rose again to pay for your sins, would you bow your head and confess that to God? Tell Him that you are accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, and ask Him to forgive you of your sins and thank Him for doing for you whay you could have never done for yourself.
